Using a Vision Board to Maintain Health Goals

Using a Vision Board to Maintain Health Goals

During this past New Year’s, was one of your 2020 resolutions to obtain better health?  Wow, did the past few months take us on a side road!

Now that we are closing in on summertime, how have you been doing with it so far? If you are still in the same spot as before or not showing as much progress as you had hoped, then a vision board would be the best thing you can get for yourself.

Visualization is a very powerful tool, and a vision board is something that anyone can use to achieve their 2020 health goals. It allows you to exercise your imagination, giving you much more clarity of the ideal life you want. In fact, it has been scientifically proven that vision boards can increase productivity and keep people focused on their goals, both personally and professionally. If you are determined to stick to your health resolutions this year, put effort into a vision board so you can optimize the probability of success.

Better Focus

By putting health inspiration on a vision board, such as recipes, quotes, or anything that will inspire you will help you stay focused. Sometimes through the hustle of life, the visions we have for ourselves get drowned out by the rest of our obligations, making us losing sight of our true aspirations. A vision board is a perfect way to stay focused because even with life obstacles, you have something to remind you to stay on track.

Tip: Put down milestone deadline dates with targeted goals to reach by each one to help you focus. If you reach the milestone, then reward yourself with something that will not hinder progress, like purchasing new shirt or gadget that you have been wanting.

Helping You Stay Motivated

You know you want to eat better and exercise more, but the work that goes into doing that can be exhausting. Trying to succeed at something such as improved health is not an easy task, so we all need motivation that reminds us why we genuinely want it in the first place. Though a personal trainer would be awesome to have as a motivator every day, you can still achieve the same drive with a vision board.  Vision boards give you a clear depiction of what you want to achieve and motivates you to take action even when you feel like giving up.

Tip: Put pictures of inspiring people you look up to and strive to be like. Or perhaps put pictures of your favorite trainer/nutritionist as visual support.

Helps with Tracking Progress

There is nothing worse than trying so hard and yet seeing no results. Lack of seeing any output from your hard work is an extreme demotivator, and a top reason why many people quit. The truth is that results tend to be very subtitle, meaning you may be progressing, but not seeing the effects just yet. With a vision board, you can use it to track your progress so even when you do not see any results in the mirror, you can see how far you have come.

Tip: Take weekly or monthly progress pictures if you are trying to lose weight so you can compare each one. Though you may not notice the differences each time you look in the mirror, you should be able to see substantial differences with pictures.

It Will Help You Make Better Choices

There are tons of tempting commercials, magazines, and online ads flooded with unhealthy yet delicious foods that you know you should stay away from. Not to mention, there is an entire aisle in the grocery store dedicated to those sweet treats that you may find yourself drifting down. If you have nothing to counteract those temptations, like a vision board, you are much more likely to give into a craving. Cravings pass, but they will pass much faster when you have a visual reminder of your long-term goal, which will ultimately diminish the desire to have a short-term pleasure that could harm your results.

Tip: Add a list of health risks and dangers of consuming too much sugar to detour yourself from want to put that into your body. On the reverse side, place healthy foods and their benefits to drive you to choose those options instead.

Stick To It!

Let’s face it, health related resolutions are hard to stick to, which is why many people opt out within the first few months of their resolutions. But instead of quitting entirely, use the resources around you to help you along. We all need a boost sometimes, especially when it comes to rearranging ingrained habits and manifesting our mindsets to become healthier. By owning a vision board, you can have the best health tracking process and displayed reminders of your true desires right in front of you, motivating you every day to reach your true potential and achieve your health goals.
