Make a Family Vision Board and Get Your Kids Involved

Looking for a meaningful family project?  Looking to bring your family closer with intentional planning?  With social distancing and shelter in place becoming a norm lately there has never been a better opportunity for your family to gather around to create a joint dream board.

Why build a family vision board?

  • It’s Fun!  Great discussions will transpire and inspire your family to dream together and visualize the exciting future you have before you.  Be ready for some great belly laughs too.
  • It’s a great way to teach your children that anything is possible in life. Children have great imaginations and unique insights.  You will love helping your children identify dreams for your family and proudly displaying them in your home.
  • Overcome fear by planning. Most fear comes from the unknown and when you take control to plan for your future…it’s amazing how that fear dissipates.
  • Great discoveries will be made of your family members.  Who knew that your youngest wanted to learn to scuba dive or your oldest wanted to join a couple of friends on a mission trip?

How do we build a family vision board?

  • Gather supplies (board, markers, inspirational quotes, glue, scissors, embellishments, etc)
  • Create an action map that will lead you through the process. What are the steps that you will follow to reach each goal? As with all blueprints, it needs to be written down!
  • Engage the family by assigning a task or two to each member.  One can find their favorite picture of your family, another can gather some extra scissors and bling for the board, one can determine the best place to display the completed board for all to see daily, etc.  Engaging every family member is easy and the project will generate a lot of positive, collaborative energy.
  • And don’t forget to write down how you will celebrate your accomplished family goals!

Incorporate Gratitude

Make sure your vision board includes gratitude for what your family already has.  It’s been a challenging time since the onset of COVID-19, so be sure to include images of the things you all enjoy and the people you love.

It’s likely that building your family dream board will become a family tradition.  From our home to yours, have FUN, work as a TEAM, and DREAM BIG!!
