Vision Board Process
So you decided to try your hand at a Vison Board. Congratulations on taking the first intentional step to achieving your goals! But now comes the question – where do I start? How to I build a Vision Board? Take a look below at the Vision board creating process.
1. Complete your Vision Board Workbook
This is the most critical part of the process. In order to create a board that is effective, you need to block off some time to do some focused goal setting. think through what you want from the next year. Where do you want to be? Who do you want to be? What inspires you? The only way we can successfully chase our dreams is by defining them. Take the time to goal set. We suggest you use our simple step by step Action Map workbook. I can really simplify this step and help you define those dreams.
2. Gather Creating Tools
The next step in the process involves collecting all of the tools you will need to physically build your board. This can sometimes take more time than we anticipate to track down all the fun pieces to take our board to the next level. We have compiled a basic list of materials for you here. If you are busy like so many of us these days, we also offer a full comprehensive kit that comes with all the creating tools you could need.
3. Find Images, Quotes and Inspiration
We want your board to be a reflection of you and your dreams. Be sure to take a few minutes to find images, quotes, and verses. Find those little extras that may inspire you or help you keep on track and stay motivated. You can use your Action Map from earlier in the process as a guide to kick start your creative side with a variety of themes, colors, designs, and quote packages.
4. Assemble your Board
This is the fun step. Take all the quotes, images, goals and dreams and attach them to your board. Design it how you would like it. use glue, sticker, tape, or even pins to fasten your inspiration to your board. Be sure to add your own personal flare. Don’t be afraid to add photos of yourself, your family, or maybe your favorite vacation location.
5. Display Your Board
We highly suggest you display your board in a location that you will see everyday. Place it in your bedroom, living room, or even your office. A vision board is most effective when it is located in a place that you will see constantly to remind you where you are headed.
Mini Board for Big Goals
We know you may not always want to have your personal goals out for co-workers to see. Try out a smaller board (something that can easily fit on a desk or in a frame) for more specific long term goals. This could be anything from law school admittance, to purchasing that new home.
7. Revisit and Revise Throughout the Year
This is likely the hardest part of the vision board process. Take a couple minutes every month to reflect on your progress. Set a reminder on your calendar. If you get off track don’t fret! We all have stressful times where we can get distracted and off-track. Simply re-visit your vision board and reignite your efforts. As you begin to reach your goals you may want to cross them off or star them to keep you motivated. Accountability is a key part in the vision board process. Setting these reminders and staying on track will bring you that much closer to success.
Celebrate to Complete the Process!
Celebrate when you reach your goals, especially the big ones! Plan a trip for the end of the year as a special treat after all the hard work you have put into yourself and your life. Remember, Rewards are just as important as the drive to get there.
